Our Story

Object Design began as the design label of Vancouver artist/jewellers - husband/wife team - Tamara Clark and Sako Khatcherian. Their first studio opened in April of 1994 and continued to grow until they expanded to their first retail location in the heart of Vancouver's westend on Davie Street.

Revisiting their long-term plans, they returned to their original studio in the historical Medical Arts Building on Granville St. Continued growth in clientele and wanting to pursue a dream of housing a number of local artists under one roof brought forth Object Design Gallery which opened in the fall of 2000 in Vancouver's funky Kitsilano -- 4th Ave shopping district. The gallery opened featuring five local jewellers and has grown to over one hundred local and international jewellers, and a range of other artists (photography, wood and glass). Jewellery in the gallery is made from a range of metals including silver, gold, titanium, copper, and platinum complimented with precious and semiprecious stones.

Since opening their doors they have hosted a number of successful group exhibits, featured artists and have become the home base for local artists who rent bench space in the gallery. In 2002 Tamara and Sako had an opportunity to open a store on Granville Island. They are located in the Creekhouse Building on Johnston St.
